Overview of the mountain

Shosen-kyo is one of the most scenic gorges around Tokyo, which is famous for a lot of odd-looking rocks and an awesome waterfall "Senga-taki".
Rakanji-yama exists next to such a touristy place but few know this small mountain on the other hand. Because of it, the trail cannot be well-maintained like other big-name mountains. So don't forget to prepare a map of the trail, or it would be fatal trekking.
Plus, the indication board says that you can encounter dangerous wild animals like bears or boars in the woods. To avoid an undesirable encounter, it is surely recommended to prepare a bear bell.
"Rakanji" is the name of the temple which exists around the foot of this mountain. The highest peak of this mountain is "Yasaburo-dake"(alt:1058m), where you can approach by the ropeway from the foot:Shosenkyo.
For this mountain consists of granite, there are some points covered with white sand. You are recommended to have a long break at one of them "Shirosuna-yama", where you can see Yasaburo-dake in front.
